COVID-Friendly West Michigan Events: Early March 2021

We are lucky to live and work in West Michigan, and even during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are a lot of fun activities to take part in.

Courtney Sheffer, marketing director of the West Michigan Tourist Association, joined Fox 17 Morning News to discuss those events.

Live Mannequins in St. Joseph

First up, you can watch storefronts come alive during March Mannequins in downtown St. Joseph on Friday, March 12th. Windows will display community volunteers as they pose perfectly still, like mannequins from 7:00-8:30 pm. The event’s theme is “Night at the Museum” and the windows will be set up to display scenes from one of the Night at the Museum movies, or original museum exhibit ideas. After you take a stroll through downtown to check out the windows, you can vote for your favorite on the St. Joseph Today website.

Date Night: Sunset & Sugarbush at Blandford

Next up, with the warmer weather comes maple syrup season! Celebrate the maple tapping season with a special date night on Wednesday, March 18th at Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids. A lighted path will take you down Blandford’s Sugarbush trail, ending at the Sugarhouse where they’ll show you how sap becomes syrup. End your night sipping hot cocoa while you get warm and cozy by the campfire. Tickets are available through the Blandford Nature Center’s website

Irish Fun in Ludington

And lastly, Ludington has some fun outdoor events planned for St. Patrick’s Day weekend! On March 13th, participate in the “Over the Rainbow” scavenger hunt, and see how many shamrocks you can track down around town to win prizes. Get your running shoes out to participate in the Irish Jog 5k or 10k, both with virtual and in-person options. Or participate in the “Take-Out Pub Crawl” with Ludington’s list of local bars and restaurants who are offering beer and more to-go for St. Patrick’s Day this year.
