Gun Lake Casino Provides Valentine’s Day Meals for Dégagé Ministries

Gun Lake Casino, a supporter of Dégagé Ministries since 2011, provided hundreds of meals to feed those in need in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The meals are to be served throughout the day on Friday, February 12.

“Gun Lake Casino is proud to carry on the beloved tradition of providing winter meals for Dégagé Ministries. This year, we celebrate a 10-year partnership with the organization,” stated Sal Semola, president and chief operating officer of Gun Lake Casino. “Our team takes pride in creating a special menu for those utilizing the services at Dégagé. We hope our dedication to Dégagé’s mission brings hope to those in need.”

As part of an annual charitable donation, Gun Lake Casino donated freshly prepared food, an assortment of refreshments, dessert, and hand delivered the meals to the dining facility. An additional $2,500 was provided to support the mission of Dégagé Ministries.

Gun Lake Casino’s Chef, Keenan Fifield, and other members of the casino’s food and beverage team carefully prepared meals for breakfast and lunch to serve the community of Grand Rapids. The menu featured hearty and comforting dishes, including a complete breakfast of eggs, sausage, and biscuits with gravy. The lunch menu offered Italian cuisine and red velvet cake.

“Thank you, Gun Lake Casino, for a special Valentine’s Day meal for men and women experiencing poverty and homelessness in the Heartside community. We are so grateful for your ongoing partnership and your commitment to giving back to the community,” said Thelma Ensink, Executive Director for Dégagé Ministries.

Dégagé Ministries works daily to assure the men, women and children of Grand Rapids receive the basic supplies for daily living. Hundreds of individuals receive vital necessities at Dégagé including: meals, drinking water, winter clothing, hygiene products and most importantly hope and respect.
