The Big Give is back! On Saturday, February 6, Downtown Holland will be thanking the community for their support in a “big” way! That day, close to 35 Downtown Holland businesses will be donating 10% of all sales to local non-profit organizations all day long. Each participating shop and restaurant will be selecting a deserving organization that they're passionate about supporting as part of the event. The more you shop and dine in Downtown Holland on February 6, the more good you'll help do in the community! The Big Give is proudly sponsored by Downtown Holland’s own Lorence & Vander Zwaart Financial Planning.
“One of our firm’s core values is to Pour Out, which is how we describe giving generously to our community,” said Nate Baumann, Partner and Financial Planner for Lorence & Vander Zwart Financial Planning. “We fully believe in giving back, as well as supporting the businesses that make our community unique and wonderful. This community has continually supported our business since 1960 and we want to do the same, especially considering the difficult year many have experienced due to pandemic related shutdowns.”
A full list of participating businesses and their selected non-profit organizations can be viewed on The Big Give Facebook event page. In addition to donating 10% of in-store purchases, a number of shops are also donating 10% of online sales to their selected non-profit organization on February 6, knowing that some customers may not be comfortable shopping in person at this time. Likewise, a number of restaurants will also be donating 10% of to-go orders that day. Lorence & Vander Zwart Financial Planning will also donate $10 to Good Samaritan Ministries for every photograph taken at The Big Give and posted on social media with the tag #LVZAdvisors.
“Our Downtown Holland business owners greatly appreciate the support they’ve received from the local community during this especially difficult year for small businesses,” said Downtown Holland Marketing Coordinator Kara de Alvare, “The Big Give is their way of giving back, as it allows them to support non-profit organizations that are doing such great work right here in the local community. Last year, over $10,000 was raised for charity and we would love to reach that goal again.”
Downtown Holland will also be partnering with Community Action House to host a food drive during The Big Give. Customers are encouraged to bring a healthy, non-perishable food item to donate to Community Action House’s food pantry. Donations will be collected inside Claremont Court near the intersection of 8th Street and River Avenue. Just look for the Community Action House truck on 8th Street! Each customer that donates a food item will be entered to win a $100 gift card to the Downtown Holland business of their choice as a thank you for supporting the community.
