Michigan writers are invited to create original ekphrastic poems based on the Muskegon Museum of Art’s newest large-scale sculpture, “Minotaur Reading” by Beth Carter, for this year’s Art Talks Back Poetry contest.
The contest is open January 7, 2021 through February 19, 2021. This competition is free to enter and open to the public. The competition guidelines, selected artwork, and the required entry form can be downloaded below.
Printed copies of these forms can also be picked up at the Muskegon Museum of Art during our open hours:
Sunday through Saturday – 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Monday – CLOSED
The winning poets will receive their awards by mail after being notified in March and recognized via social media.
Note: All Art Talks Back competition entries from 2020 will be judged separately from 2021 entries. Though the 2020 competition award process was postponed, the entries are in safekeeping at the museum. The 2020 and 2021 competitions are separate contests. If you submitted in 2020, you are welcome to submit in 2021 as well. We look forward to judging all entries.
