River Country Chamber of Commerce announces changes to Christmas Walk Traditions

With a heavy heart, River Country Chamber of Commerce announces that the 2020 Christmas Walk will be moved to a virtual experience. This was not a decision made lightly. Christmas Walk is a tradition in the community that parents think back on fondly, children look forward to, and businesses come together to create the magic of Christmas.

Because we care…. About Tradition:
Due to current executive orders we are not allowed to have Christmas Walk the way we all know and love. This year we are holding on to Christmas Walk, literally, by going with the 2020 trend of Virtual Events. We will be broadcasting our Christmas Walk traditions including our honorary award, the Christmas tree lighting, Santa, holiday greetings, and musical performances, via the River Country Chamber Facebook page. Please tune in Friday, December 4th at 6pm as we embrace our traditions a little differently this year.

Because we care… About Local Businesses:
We are launching three programs collectively called our Shop Local, Save Local Promotion dedicated to helping our local businesses during these times. This year we are bringing back the wallet full of gift cards, as well as introducing Shop Local receipt drawing and Save Local Restaurant Punch Cards. There will be three chances for consumers to win! Last years wallet full of gift cards was valued over $1,500! We have $600 in prizes to give for the receipt drawing sponsored by Newaygo Family Dental. Lastly, there will be a gift basket drawing valued over $150 for the punch card program drawing. These programs are directed towards supporting our chamber members exclusively, if you’d like more information regarding joining the chamber please contact

Because we care… About You:
Keeping you safe is in the front of our thoughts, with current executive orders in place and social distancing in mind – every Friday night in December is Christmas Walk. With the help of downtown Newaygo businesses, this year we are spreading out Christmas Walk shopping from only one Friday night to each Friday in December leading up to Christmas Day. Businesses will be staying open until 8pm on Friday nights to better serve you. With the hopes that this will allow for safe shopping in smaller groups All Season Long.

Follow along on Facebook as we countdown to Christmas and share promotional pieces.
