Krasl Art Center’s (KAC) members’ exhibition will open December 4. The annual exhibition will be on view throughout the main floor of the art center through January 10, and brings with it new virtual and in-person events as well as special opportunities for KAC members.
Following KAC’s fall 2020 exhibition: Artists as Influencers: Pathways in Glass, the 2020 Members’ Show: Inspired by…continues to consider pathways between artists, media, and meaning. An integral part of the artistic process, inspiration is the spark that shapes new creative endeavors. Inspired by… showcases the work of KAC’s member artists and the people, places, and objects that have influenced that work. KAC member artists are invited to display one artwork created within the past two years that addresses the theme. All media are accepted and artists of every skill set are encouraged to submit in this annual celebration of local talent.
A new Art & Wellness Pop-Up will be piloted in KAC’s recently-updated community lounge this November and December. The project is the result of an innovative partnership between KAC and Spectrum Health Lakeland’s Population Health Department. The kiosk-like pop-up is based on the Trauma Resource Institute’s Community Resilience Model (CRM). ® Visitors will be able to increase their understanding of mental health, understand the concept of resilience, and participate in hands-on, arts-based activities that provide opportunities to practice and build resiliency skills. They will also have the opportunity to see original artworks by local artists that contributed to the pop-up before it moves to Benton Harbor Public Library in January.
Visit during KAC’s open hours, Friday – Monday 11 AM – 5 PM, or enjoy these exciting events tied to the exhibitions. Follow KAC’s Facebook page for other ways to interact with the art on view.
