Several events happening this fall if you’re looking for something fun to do in the local community. Courtney Sheffer, Marketing Director for West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA), joined Fox 17 live to discuss these events:
Coopersville Marne Railway Opens 10/17
First up, you can enjoy a fall train ride between Grand Rapids and Muskegon on the Coopersville & Marne Railway’s Famous Pumpkin Train! The Pumpkin Train will run twice this month on Saturday, October 17th and again October 24th with a stop in a pumpkin patch to select one to take home with you. When the train returns to the Coopersville station, you’ll be entertained with songs, dances, and funny stories from a cast of Halloween characters
Fall in Love with Downtown Holland and Enter to Win!
If you’re looking to shop local, take a trip to the lakeshore for a shopping trip in Downtown Holland during their “Fall in Love” event. Pick up a shopping passport, or print one from home, and bring it in to over 45 businesses in Downtown Holland. You can stop by during the whole month of October, and if you get at least 10 stamps, you’ll be entered to win a weekend getaway in Holland! It’s a great chance to check out some new locations, and support local businesses.
Downtown Kalamazoo Skele-Tour
And lastly, explore the spooky side of Kalamazoo all month with Downtown Kalamazoo’s SkeleTour. From creepy and scary, to funny and silly, the self-guided walking tour features 52 life-sized, decorated skeletons located at different Kalamazoo businesses. This year’s SkeleTour will also include a number of fall and Halloween events, such as a “Skelfie Scavenger Hunt”, family movie night, a themed West Michigan Beer Tour, and more to really get you into the Halloween Spirit.
