Witches, wizards, and muggles alike, leave your little gremlins at home. John Ball Zoo is hosting a Wizard Adult Night Out on September 17th. With the Zoo decorated from top to bottom in wizard-themed decorations for their Wizarding Weekends, this after hours will be the perfect place for adults to feel like kids again.
This magical Wizard Adult Night Out gives attendees the opportunity to experience the Zoo at night, without any kids, while enjoying the special wizard-themed decorations, food, and adult beverages. Guests are encouraged to wear their robes and bring their wands.
The evening after-hours is from 5pm-8:30pm, with timed entry tickets available for 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:15pm. JBZ is limiting this adult-only after hours to a maximum capacity of 800 guests, in order to allow room for proper social distancing.
Tickets can be purchased online for $18 for Zoo members or $20 for non-members at jbzoo.org/AdultNightOut. Tickets could be available for those who walk-up but the Zoo cannot guarantee these will be available. The Zoo notes that this season’s previous Adult Night Outs did sell out in advance.
Zoo staff will rotate throughout the Zoo in front of animal habitats helping guests learn more about the animals and the Zoo during the evening. To allow proper social distancing, no scheduled programming will occur. The Zoo also notes that for the welfare of the animals, they will start going inside beginning at 7:00pm. Also, the Hobby Farm area, the waterfall area, upper boardwalks and tiger habitat area will close due to darkness at 7:30pm. But, there’s still plenty of the Zoo to explore and enjoy.
Masks are required for when visiting their indoor habitats, and for outdoor areas where a 6 feet distance is not possible between other guests. The Zoo asks for guests to bring their own mask. John Ball Zoo is located on Fulton Ave., one mile west of downtown Grand Rapids. For questions or for more information, visit www.jbzoo.org, call (616) 336-4301 or email email@example.com.
