Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids is a great place to get outside and enjoy the changing of the seasons! They have trails to explore, a working farm to visit, and lots of programming you can get involved in. This coming week they’re hosting a fall nature discovery program about bugs, “date night in the meadow,” a life-sized fort building workshop, and more all season long.
Binder Park Zoo just recently welcomed a special delivery from a pair of marabou storks! Binder Park is one of only 12 zoos with a pair of these massive storks, and this was the first time in 21 years that they laid eggs in their 5-foot-wide nest! The new stork family will be off exhibit for the rest of the zoo season, but you can get a look at them in real time through the live ZooCam. If you’d like to visit the zoo in person before the end of the season, it is open daily through October 31st.
If you’re missing this year’s Unity Christian Music Festival in Muskegon, make sure you check out their exclusive drive in movie event on September 18th and 19th! They’ll be showing a special performance, recorded live in Nashville just for the Unity Family. It will be shown on a special pop-up drive-in movie screen at Country Dairy in New Era. You’ll want to purchase your tickets ahead of time, and make sure you bring an FM radio to tune in right from your car!
It’s a great time of year to cruise the lakes and rivers to watch for the first signs of fall color, and the Star of Saugatuck Boat Tours has a unique way for you to do just that! They’re offering “Wine on the Water” boat cruises on September 19th and October 17th. Sit back, sip, and savor the wines and views on a 90 minute cruise aboard this authentic sternwheeler paddleboat.
