The Marshall Historic Home Tour scheduled for Sept. 12-13 has been canceled due to the risks presented by the coronavirus pandemic.
George Whelan, Marshall Historical Society president, said the executive committee made the decision after assessing the risks to visitors, homeowners and the many volunteers that would be involved.
The event annually includes tours of six to eight private homes, local museums, a downtown business building and a downtown-area church. There also is an arts-and-crafts fair along with other related events.
Whelan also said no decision has been made about canceling the Marshall Candlelight Walk scheduled for Dec. 12-13. The Honolulu House Museum, 107 N. Kalamazoo Ave., and the Marshall Historical Museum at the GAR Hall, 402 E. Michigan Ave., both remain closed. The Marshall Historic Home Tour began in 1964 and is the Midwest’s long-running home tour.
