Skydiving Santa and Rappelling Elf Jumpstart Toys for Tots $10,000 Gift Exchange at Gun Lake Casino

Today, a skydiving Santa Claus and rappelling elf made a theatrical landing onto Gun Lake Casino’s property to celebrate a heartfelt holiday initiative. The 2019 Toys for Tots campaign officially began at the casino and hundreds were present to support the cause.

To encourage donations, Gun Lake Casino hosted a “Gift Exchange”, offering a grand total of $10,000 to ten donating guests, each able to win $1,000 in cash.  All guests who donated a toy received a minimum of $10 in free slot play.

The festivities began at 11:30 a.m., with skydiver Dennis Bennett (Skydive Allegan) and rappelling enthusiast Dave Nickelson (Modern Window Cleaning) descending onto the parking lot. Representatives from the Marine Corps Reserve took part in the event, parking their Toys for Tots float for guests to see and lending a hand in the collection of gifts. In total, $2,460 in children’s presents were collected for Lakeshore Toys for Tots.

Larry Klunder, Mark Peterson and Michelle Peterson, members of the Marine Corps Reserve, presented Gun Lake Casino with an award plaque for being a proud, longstanding supporter of Toys for Tots. Larry stated, “Lakeshore Toys for Tots greatly appreciates the contributions from Gun Lake Casino and their guests. Without their help, many children would go without toys this Christmas. It is an honor to partner with Gun Lake Casino to help the children and families of Allegan County.”

The fun filled event is only the beginning. Gun Lake Casino will continue the collection of toys for local children from November 25 to December 15. Following the gift exchange event, guests with new unwrapped gifts, accompanied by a receipt, may receive up to $50 in Free Slot Play for their donation. Gun Lake Casino has also challenged local businesses to raise toys as well.  If a local business donates more toys than the Gun Lake Casino, the casino will make a $25,000 donation to Toys for Tots.
