Downtown Holland to Host Annual Holiday Open House

If you’ve never experienced the magic of Downtown Holland during the holiday season, this is the night you won’t want to miss! On Saturday, November 16, a total of 40 Downtown Holland businesses will open their doors from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm for the annual Holiday Open House. This signature event is just one of a number of holiday events taking place in Downtown Holland throughout the season. During the Holiday Open House, residents and visitors alike are invited to stroll the brightly lit streets while shopping for holiday gifts and enjoying complimentary refreshments at participating businesses. The Holiday Open House also features strolling carolers, chestnut roasting, a reindeer petting corral…and of course Santa Claus and his favorite Elf!

Just in time for the Holiday Open House, the streets of Downtown Holland will be decorated for the season with thousands of twinkling holiday lights, garland-wrapped light poles and custom designed urn planters. The Holland Windmill Chorus, Holland Choral Dickens Carolers and the Ventura Baptist Church Choir will be singing popular Christmas carols during the event, while Downtown Holland staff will be roasting chestnuts outside of GDK Park on 8th Street. Everyone is invited to stop by for a free sample of a traditional taste of the holidays! Santa and one of his elves can also be spotted during the Holiday Open House, strolling throughout Downtown Holland, handing out candy canes and posing for photographs. Santa’s reindeer will also be here, located in a petting corral in Musician’s Park. In addition to offering complimentary holiday treats, a number of participating businesses will also be offering special discounts and other promotions during the event, making it the perfect evening to start your Christmas shopping!

The Holiday Open House will conclude at 8:00 pm with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Promptly at 8:00 pm, attendees are invited to join newly-elected City of Holland Mayor Nathan Bocks and Santa Claus himself in GDK Park for the official lighting of the Downtown Holland Christmas tree. The tree lighting will be followed by a Christmas carol singalong led by the Holland Windmill Chorus.
