Backsliders Stories and Songs at Box Factory for the Arts 9/28

The Box Factory for the Arts is proud to present The Backsliders with “Stories and Songs” at the Box on Saturday, September 28th at 7:00.

John D. Van Dyke has been playing in bands since 1964. A retired art teacher, he makes music, sculpture and paintings. John lives in a restored barn with his son, Danny. You can see John’s artwork at jvandykesculpture.com.

Dave Van Dyke is a fourth generation school teacher and lifelong learner. An accomplished songwriter, Dave has released songs on many topics, from Mr. Rogers to Evel Knievel. Dave lives in a cabin in the woods with his wife and son.

Dave and John met on April 28, 1971, at St. Joe Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. They knew each other for 15 years before starting to make music together. Their first appearance was a Church Youth Talent Show in 1986, where they performed “Twist and Shout.”
