The MyTurn Project Fund was created through the partnership of Scott Matzka, a NCAA national hockey champion and professional hockey player who settled in Kalamazoo following his hockey career, and the Susan Mast ALS Foundation. Scott was diagnosed with ALS in September of 2015 and passed away in December of 2018, never letting ALS dictate how he would skate his final shift.  The goal of the MyTurn Project Fund is to help others within the community who live with ALS.

ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70, and it is estimated there are at least 16,000 Americans who have the disease at any given time.

Interested participants are encouraged to register early in an effort to make this event as successful as possible. Everyone is invited to attend the charity tournament to help raise money for the My Turn Project Fund through the Susan Mast ALS Foundation.
