It will be a night of jaw-dropping amazement for the whole family when Mike Super – Magic and Illusion comes to The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor on Friday, October 18, at 8 pm as part of the Discovery Series.
As the winner of NBC’s hit TV show Phenomenon, Super is the only magician in history to win a live magic competition on primetime US network television and be voted as America’s Favorite Mystifier. Through spectacular illusions and his own inimitable down-to-earth style and personality, Super has pioneered a new form of magic that transcends the “trick”. With captivating performances for more than six weeks on America’s Got Talent as a top finalist and on the season premiere episode of Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Super has emerged as magic’s newest celebrity with a legion of fans numbering in the millions.
Super’s life has been characterized by an obsession and passion for magic. He has astonished millions of people with his craft, including the Hollywood elite. Super has performed for Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jay Leno, Criss Angel, Regis Philbin, Craig Ferguson, Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Disney’s Raven-Symone’, Joan Rivers, Garry Shandling, and Robin Leach, to name but a few.
Super’s ever-growing popularity has garnered him many prestigious awards and honors. Most recently he was the recipient of the Merlin Award being named Entertainer of the Year for two consecutive years. The Merlin Award is considered to be the Oscars of Magic. Super shares this award with the likes of David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Criss Angel, and Siegfried and Roy. His other honors include being named Performing Arts – Entertainer of the Year, Best Performing Artist of the Year, Best Male Performer, and Best Novelty Live Performer.
Also among his many television appearances are numerous appearances on the French television show La Soiree de L’etrange, appearing as one of the presenters and performers at the Pollstar awards held at the prestigious Nokia Theater, and an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Despite all this, Super humbly insists it is the loyalty of his fan base that has been the most rewarding. His fans call themselves “The Superfreaks,” and they number in the millions.
The secret to Super’s success is his natural ability to entertain and captivate people. He has brought the art of magic back to the people and connects personally with his audience on a relatable level. Whether it’s through television, stage, or simply one-on-one, Super’s personality and humor reaches out and enchants the public.
