Summer Sundays at the Box continue on August 18th at the Box Factory for the Arts featuring Sankofa

The new series Summer Sundays at the Box continue at the Box Factory for the Arts on Sunday, August 18th.

An art experience you won’t want to miss! Each event in the series features some fabulous musicians, talented artists, vendors and food. Doors will open at 1:00 and live music will be from 4:00-6:00.

About the musicians:

For our August 18th Summer Sundays at the Box we are going BIG! Sankofa brought the house down at their Box Factory debut in February so we have invited them back! Sankofa is an eclectic soul band, whose members are passionate about creating and performing good music! Their motto is “Reclaiming The Past For A Better Future!”

This high energy ensemble includes Beth Haire-Lewis, Steve Parker, Audrey Peeples, Tamika Seawood, Erick Fisher, Falconetti Petty and Anthony Alexander.

Before we all start dancing to the live performance at 4:00, four local artisan vendors will be set up to offer their handmade designs beginning at 1:00.

Artisan Vendor Details:

Chandra Williams is a leatherworker who lives in Niles, Michigan with her family. Chandra has been working leather for six years. She makes everything from jewelry to neckties, but her specialty is handbags. She sews most of her handbags on industrial machines, but Chandra also hand stitches when it suits the design. She uses water based, eco-friendly dyes, finishes, and adhesives, and, when possible, solid brass hardware. All Chandra’s designs are created by her, and each piece is one of a kind. They also are guaranteed for life. Right now, Chandra’s focus is on utilitarian design, but her goal for the near future is to transition into leather sculpture.

The lovely and talented Roxanne Shaw will also be joining us with her R.A.R.E. Fashions by Roxy. Expect to find some stylish handmade jewelry and clothing items.

Dawn Evans of Natural Effect is bringing her natural skin care line including soaps, body butters and lotions, bath bombs and lip balms. Dawn uses all natural and organic ingredients to create formulations designed to nourish, moisturize and pamper your skin. Dawn will also teach “Bath Bomb Making 101.” $10 will include all materials and a take away.

Stop by Eclectic Pearl Crafting’s booth to make your own Metal Stamped Keychain or to shop a variety of Metal Stamped Works ranging from pet tags, keychains, jewelry, planters, vintage silverware projects and more! Gretchen Krieger, owner of Eclectic Pearl Crafting, is a 23 year old, St. Joseph Michigan based craft-lover. Gretchen enjoys teaching individuals how to craft adorable projects as well as setting up her craft booth at Skip’s Market in New Buffalo every Sunday. She would love to help you exercise that creative muscle that we all have, so visit her booth to make a custom metal stamped keychain!

Food and Beverages:

Food options provided by Wood, Stock and Grill and Forté Coffee will be on hand with their cold brew cart offering nitro and cold brew coffee and cookies. A full cash bar will be open during the August 18th event featuring beer, wine and a limited cocktail menu. IDs checked at the door. No outside food or beverages permitted.
