Learn How to Create Tantalizing Lettuce Wraps Using Produce from the Holland Farmers Market at the Chef Series

Need a summer meal to be the heat? Then don’t miss the Chef Series at the Holland Farmers Market this Saturday, July 27! Beginning at 10:00 am, Executive Chef Anthony Tenhoor from Alpenrose Restaurant will be teaching audiences how to use fresh seasonal produce
from the Market to make delicious lettuce wraps…perfect for the nights when it’s too hot to turn on your oven. The Chef Series is proudly sponsored by Higher Health Chiropractic with in-kind support from Visser Farms. Please note that the Chef Series location has now been moved to the northwest Civic Center parking lot.

Tenhoor began his culinary career at Grand Rapids Community College, where he earned an AA in Culinary Arts. Upon graduation, he worked as a pantry cook at Thousand Oaks Golf Club and within two years he was promoted to Sous Chef and then Executive Chef. After Thousand Oaks, he worked in the Tampa Bay area for 8 years at a private golf club before moving to Maui, Hawaii. While in Hawaii, he ran a marine operation that catered 150,000 guests annually. He then returned to West Michigan and worked as a Chef de Cuisine at GP Sports Bar in Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. He joined the Alpenrose team as their Executive Chef in December of 2018.

Each week during the Chef Series at the Holland Farmers Market, a talented local chef, caterer or Market vendor demonstrates how to prepare an easy, healthy and delicious meal using fresh Market ingredients. The Chef Series is held at 10:00 am every Saturday through August 31 and is free to attend. Recipes are available at the demonstration and will also be posted online at www.hollandfarmersmarket.com the week following the demonstration.

The Farmhouse Deli Christine Ferris, owner and executive chef at The Farmhouse Deli, will demonstrate three mouth-watering summer salads that utilize the best of Michigan’s summer produce, including a watermelon salad, grilled peaches and charred green beans.

Seventy-Six Executive Chef Shelly Rash will prepare a variety of Spanish-inspired dishes in anticipation of their sister tapas restaurant, Poquito, opening in Downtown Holland this year!
