This month, the AC Marriott Hotel Downtown Grand Rapids opened the doors at 50 Monroe Avenue NW and each of the guest rooms inside this 130-room lifestyle hotel will be outfitted with a custom mattress made locally by Lady Americana Midwest. The hotel will be managed by AHC+ Hospitality, which also manages the Amway Grand Plaza, JW Marriott, Downtown Courtyard by Marriott and the Hyatt Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown, opening this fall.
“It has been a privilege for us to work closely with AHC+ Hospitality for over 35 years to engineer sleep systems that use a higher-quality component package to provide exceptional sleep for every guest in the more than 1,100 rooms under the AHC+ management umbrella,” says Tim Westrate, Sales Manager at Lady Americana. “We look forward to providing the guests at the AC Marriott with the same exceptional sleep experience and the hotel with positive ratings, reviews and value that ACH+ has come to expect from us.”
AC Marriott will offer 108 queen and 76 king mattresses made at Lady Americana’s 20,000-square-foot factory on 36th Street, just 7.3 miles from downtown.
“Our relationship with Lady Americana began in the late 1970s, not long after Amway Corporation acquired and restored the historic Pantlind Hotel into the award-winning Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton,” says George Aquino, Vice President / Managing Director for AHC+ Hospitality. “As we expand our hospitality portfolio, it is important for us to provide our guests with the best amenities. A quality sleep experience is paramount to any hotel stay, and that is why we have trusted Lady Americana Mattress to provide our mattresses and bedding solutions for nearly four decades.”
Located inside a former warehouse next to The B.O.B. and near Van Andel Arena, the AC Marriott Hotel building was purchased in 2012 by CWD Real Estate Investment and since that time they have invested $40 million to convert the historic former warehouse into the city’s newest urban hotel.
Since 1945, Lady Americana has been handcrafting the highest quality mattresses in Grand Rapids and today is recognized as a leader in hospitality sleep sets. Without the burden of national brand advertising and name brand recognition overhead, Lady Americana can remain committed to higher quality components. On average, the Grand Rapids factory produces over 12,000 sets per year—inside its 20,000-square-foot factory. The company employs more than 20 people who take pride in their work, contributing to the “Sleep Better, Live Better” philosophy.
Recognized for the Ameri-Spring® continuous coil innerspring design and Ameri Guard patented steel-encased perimeter side-support system, Lady Americana mattresses are built to distribute the weight of two sleepers equally, producing a better nights’ sleep even when the person is traveling. Lady Americana also utilizes higher quality upholstery foams to provide luxury sleep and durability. With more than 30 design styles, each with varying coil configurations, foam padding and woven coverings, as well as Power Stack™ box springs, any level of support and comfort can be created to fit the needs of the customer.
In addition to the AC Hotel, Lady Americana works with other noted Michigan and American properties like Boyne USA Resorts in northern Michigan, Montana and Maine; The Henry Hotel Marriott in Dearborn and Hotel Santa Fe in New Mexico, as well as boutique properties such as City Flats in both Holland and Grand Rapids (and soon to be Port Huron), Huron House in Oscoda and Hotel Saugatuck, among countless others.
