Grand Haven Main Street’s tenth ArtWalk is inviting artists to join in Grand Haven’s annual celebration of art, September 17 to October 7, 2019. “Taking what ArtPrize started 10 years ago as an opportunity to engage and connect communities and people through the art’s, Grand Haven’s two week ArtWalk celebration of arts and artist continues to grow after 10 years of success”, said Steve Loftis co-chair of the event. Over 50 venues throughout the Downtown, Waterfront and Centertown of Grand Haven have been selected, and are looking for artists to register and participate.
Sign-up by August 16, and become part of one of West Michigan’s highly acclaimed art competitions. “With the inspired success and outreach of the Grand Rapids ArtPrize competition and celebration we are fully committed, each year, to bringing a high quality, walkable art experience to our community and beyond”, said Carolyn Taylor, Grand Haven Main Street Board of Directors Chairperson.
Registration for ArtWalk 2019 is open and can be accessed online at ghartwalk.com or in person at the Grand Haven Main Street offices located in City Hall. “Artists are asked to connect with a venue and make arrangements for the display of their art” said Taylor. A list of available venues is posted on the ArtWalk website.
Artist registration closes on August 16, with the official Artwalk opening on September 17. “We look forward to two weeks of highly regarded works of art and a community that will enjoy the new events that have been created to help onlookers explore our beautiful downtown, waterfront and Centertown areas while exploring inspirational pieces of art,” said Taylor.
Grand Haven ArtWalk is an annual celebration of artists, local businesses and members of the lakeshore community in a collective celebration of art. Artists from the local area and beyond participate in an art competition in the following categories: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture (3D), specialty media and new this year, recycled art. ArtWalk 2019 opens September 17 and runs through October 7.
