Oliver Art Center’s inaugural event “Small Works, Big Impact: Community College Project” is almost ready for its unveiling! Oliver Art Center handed out 200 blank canvases to over 100 community members. As of Friday, June 8, over 150 finished works have been turned back in. The deadline was Saturday. “We have works of all mediums including painting, fiber work, metal, collage, and mixed media. We also have works from ages 3 to over 80 and even entire families participated. It has had such great feedback and we are excited to get it installed,” says Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director.
Oliver Art Center will spend the week of June 10 installing the exhibition in its Entrance Gallery. The exhibition will be unveiled at the start of business on Saturday, June 15. At that time, all pieces go on sale for $35 (plus tax). “The entire project is a fundraiser and as the work sells, we take it right off the wall. That way visitors can see our progress by the empty spaces left in the collage,” says Jane Muer, OAC Board President and Project Coordinator. The exhibition runs through August 16.
