St. Ignace is well know to many vacationers as the “Gateway to the Upper Peninsula”, welcoming travelers as they cross the famous Mackinac Bridge. The community’s small town charm is a unique combination of a “True North” natural setting, local beaches, daily ferry service to Mackinac Island, outdoor patio dining overlooking Lake Huron and an amazing selection of unique things to do and see in the Straits of Mackinac.
While St. Ignace may be known as a relaxing escape from the fast pace and congestion associated with city life, once every year, on the last weekend in June, this town transforms into one of the largest all-makes, all-model car shows in the country. Over 30,000 car enthusiasts descend on St Ignace to take in the annual St. Ignace Car Show Weekend. The downtown waterfront comes alive with hundreds of antique, custom and celebrity automobiles on display, up and down State Street, complete with a scenic backdrop of Lake Huron’s Moran Bay. The “Big Car Show” boasts feature lots and vendors, parades and cruises, music and food and guaranteed fun for the whole family.
Organizers of this annual event are promising the 2019 St. Ignace Car Show Weekend will be bigger and better than ever. This year’s list of prominent guests include Guest of Honour- Dennis Gage, host of the popular television series, My Classic Car, Master Builder – Gary “Boogieman” Zaborowski, owner of Boogie Man’s Custom Creations; and Honorary Chairpersons – the Eaton family, owners of Eaton Detroit Spring.
New for 2019 will be the Pfaff Designs St. Ignace Cup, created to highlight the finest vehicles from the Great Lakes region and across the country. The winner, as selected by their peers and the St. Ignace judging panel, will receive $5,000 and the specially designed and crafted Pfaff Designs “St. Ignace Cup”. The cup will be presented by AMSOIL.
Also new for 2019 is Muscle on the Mac, an event designed to set a record for the most horsepower to cross the Mackinac Bridge at one time. Throttle Gals Magazine will be attending the show along with a selection of their finest automobiles. The famous “Fashion & The Automobile” Show will visit St. Ignace for the first time, walking everyone through the fashions that followed the automobile through the decades.
