MUSKEGON COUNTY CELEBRATES NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK

The theme of this year’s National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW), “Travel Matters,” highlights the innumerable ways in which travel makes up the fabric of Muskegon County’s culture and economy. NTTW will celebrate a different facet of travel each day: the economy, new experiences, jobs, infrastructure, health benefits, hometown pride and how travel strengthens families. Each weekday, Visit Muskegon, Muskegon County’s destination marketing organization, is offering a free event that coincides with the appropriate facet of travel.

Monday, May 6 Social Media Happy Hour 4:00pm-5:30pm Hennessy’s Irish Pub 885 Jefferson St. Muskegon Facebook is the largest social network in the world. Is your brand represented and easy to find? Learn the process of creating and maintaining a Facebook Business Page and establishing a plan to engage with your audience.

Tuesday, May 7 Muskegon Convention Center Information Session 4:00pm-5:00pm Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor 939 3rd St. Muskegon Join us as we discuss plans for the upcoming Muskegon Convention Center, what it means for tourism in Muskegon County and how to prepare your business and staff. Tours of the renovated hotel property will take place prior to the session, from 3:00pm till 3:45pm.

Wednesday, May 8 Muskegon Convention Center Groundbreaking Ceremony 11:00am-11:45am 4th St. and Western Ave., Muskegon Join Muskegon County, the City of Muskegon and Parkland Properties as they break ground on the Muskegon Convention Center.

Thursday, May 9 Lunch and Learn presented by the Hope Project 11:30am-1:00pm Shoreline Inn, Marina View Room 750 Terrace Point Rd., Muskegon Join Visit Muskegon and the Hope Project as they help educate on human trafficking and how you can help prevent it while travelling as well as in our own town. This event is limited to the first 30 people.

Friday, May 10 Tourism Trivia 5:30pm-6:30pm Pigeon Hill Brewery 500 W Western Ave. #1, Muskegon We wrap up the week by testing your knowledge of tourism in Muskegon! Prizes include two round trip tickets on the Lake Express Ferry, a one night stay at the new Delta by Marriott, and two tickets for a cruise on the Aquastar. Team registration begins at 5:00pm.
