The latest project for Lansing-based Jerry Matthews Natural Course Design is The Torch at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort in Kewadin. Situated high on bluffs, it offers views of Torch Lake to the east and Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay to the west. Matthews has been designing courses for more than 40 years and is the past president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects.
Designed by Vern Nelson, the Elmbrook Golf Course in Traverse City opened in 1964 and is among the oldest public par-72 golf courses in northern Michigan. In addition to traditional rounds, Elmbrook has recently added night golf and footgolf to expand their appeal to multiple audiences.
