Grand Rapids-based Long Road Distillers announced on Tuesday that they will be opening a new distillery tasting room in Grand Haven, Michigan. The lakeshore outlet will be the company’s second offsite tasting room apart from their headquarters on the West Side of Grand Rapids where they house their production facility, cocktail bar, and restaurant. The distillery already has a tasting room in Boyne City, Michigan.
Visitors to the new Grand Haven location will be able to enjoy handcrafted cocktails featuring Long Road’s award-winning, locally-made spirits. Guests will also be able to sample Long Road’s line-up of spirits, participate in special tasting events, and purchase merchandise and bottles to-go.
“The Long Road team is thrilled to join the Grand Haven community,” said Kyle VanStrien, Long Road Distillers Co-Founder and Co-Owner. “We’ve been working to secure a location in or around downtown for nearly two years, and we’re excited to now find ourselves in the heart of the retail and entertainment district of the city.”
The new Long Road location will be located at 102 Washington Ave, along the main retail thoroughfare in Grand Haven. On Monday evening, the Grand Haven City Council voted unanimously to recommend approval of Long Road’s request for the new distillery tasting room license to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
“I’m glad to see you coming in,” said Councilmember Mike Fritz to members of the Long Road team sitting in the audience at Monday evening’s public hearing. “I know you’ll be a great addition to Grand Haven.”
Since opening in 2015, Long Road Distillers has twice been recognized as the Best Craft Specialty Spirits Distillery in the country by USA Today and has garnered numerous “Best Craft Cocktails”, “Best Distillery” and “Best Spirits” honors from Revue West Michigan and Grand Rapids Magazine readers.
“We’re excited to bring our curated experience to the lakeshore,” said Jon O’Connor, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Long Road Distillers. “We look forward to adding something new and unique for the residents and visitors of Grand Haven to enjoy, and we’re confident we’ll be a welcome addition to the community.”
While an official open date has not been announced, Long Road Distillers is actively seeking applicants for a Tasting Room & Bar Manager and will soon begin the hiring process for additional team members.
