Educational Spring Break Fun

Just because it’s spring break doesn’t mean that education has to stop!

This spring break, head out to Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings for educational family fun. They have a wide variety of events occurring throughout the month of March, and you won’t want to miss out. They’ll have everything from a luncheon on conservation and hands-on science and engineering activities to guided hikes through a moonlit forest.

Staying close to home for spring break? Bring the kids to explore and learn at Raven Hill Discovery Center. Located on 166 acres in East Jordan and nestled in a rural setting, your whole family will experience quality hands-on experiences in a fun and educational setting. Raven Hill is a place where kids of all ages can immerse themselves inside and outside in a world of discovery.

In 2019, the Air Zoo in Portage celebrates four decades of people, planes, and programs. Be sure to join them on Thursday, March 28th, as they flip through forty years of Air Zoo scrapbooks in their special anniversary exhibition Memories and Milestones. They’re also offering spring camps the first week of April, perfect for a spring break spent in the mitten. Choose from a variety of science-based programs that engage and inspire children of all ages to learn about the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

A week full of activities at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary in Augusta will keep your family entertained, while they learn something new during spring break! On Saturday, March 30th, attend the Birds of Prey Live program to see the Sanctuary’s ambassador raptors up-close and learn what makes them unique hunting and flying machines. On Saturday, April 6th, bring the whole family together to build a nestbox during the Build-A-Box Nest Watch program. Invite Eastern Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, House Wrens, and Chickadees into your backyard this spring with your creation. Wrap up your spring break week on Sunday, April 7th, with a celebration of W.K. Kellogg’s birthday, which includes free admission to the Bird Sanctuary and free tours at the nearby historic W.K. Kellogg Manor House.
