What’s Happening in Northern Michigan: Petoskey Winter Carnival, Chocolate Covered Boyne, Wine 101

There’s always plenty do in Northern Michigan, including during the winter months! Courtney Sheffer from the West Michigan Tourist Association has details on the fun events you can take part in for this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.

Petoskey Winter Carnival

Now in its 91st year, Petoskey’s Winter Carnival kicks off Thursday and runs through this Sunday. You’ll find winter fun throughout downtown Petoskey and at the Petoskey Winter Sports Park, including the famous bump jumping competition, a cardboard sled challenge, ice sculptures, a ghost walk and more. There’s events for both adults and kids planned for the whole weekend.

Chocolate Covered Boyne

Celebrate everything chocolate the weekend closest to Valentine’s Day each year with “Chocolate Covered Boyne.” This Friday & Saturday, Boyne City will host kids’ activities at the library, a chocolate dessert contest, and tasty specials, treats, and sales offered by 45 local businesses. It’s a great way to chase away the winter blues and indulge with delicious confections.

Wine 101

Start on your way to becoming a local wine expert with the “Wine 101” class at Chateau Chantal Winery in Traverse City. You’ll enjoy a fun and relaxed tour of their winery, followed by a seated wine tasting and learning experience. They have two upcoming classes scheduled, one on February 15 and one on March 22, and each includes your tour, wine tasting, food pairings, and wine discounts.
