South Central Michigan’s Coldwater Country is home to an abundance of things to see and do with your family. Hop aboard and ride the rails of an authentic 100-year-old steam engine train or spend a day go-karting and playing games at the local entertainment center. Every trip to Coldwater should have a stop at Capri Drive-In, where you can catch a double feature at one of the 10 remaining drive-ins in Michigan.

Fresh produce is abundant in the South Haven area. While you’re there, pick fresh fruit with your family at Degrandchamp Farms or one of the other u-pick farms around the state.

Bring your kids to downtown Hastings, grab one of the special children’s brochures, and take them on a scavenger hunt for over 20 amazing outdoor sculptures created by Michigan and Midwest artists. Sculptures are on display year round and can be enjoyed no matter the weather. They also have a free music and entertainment series each Thursday from June through August, with special activities at Hastings Spray Plaza.

Families with children love Muskegon County for its wide variety of kid-friendly attractions and events. Michigan’s Adventure is Michigan’s only major theme park, with over 250 acres of thrills for all ages. The Muskegon Luge & Sports Complex offers exciting annual events and outdoor sports facilities for families. This beautiful venue inside Muskegon State Park has one of only four publicly accessible luge tracks in the country. You can even spend the night aboard the USS Silversides Submarine if you’re looking for an extra unique stay. There is plenty of more fun for your whole family in the Muskegon area.

There are tons of activities in Mecosta County for the kids of West Michigan to enjoy! Whether you’re visiting for the local arts festival or heading over to the wildlife center, Mecosta County has family fun around every corner. Mt. Pleasant prides itself on being a family-friendly community with a ton of fun to be had, no matter the season. Don’t miss the indoor waterpark at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, which is sure to be a hit with the whole family. The area also offers a little bit of fun for everyone including museums, events, and family fun centers.

Kids love exploring the rustic beauty of Charlevoix. Head over to the Mt. McSauba Recreation Area to rent skis, ice skate, or snowshoes, before spending an afternoon wandering downtown Charlevoix. Don’t forget to visit Norm, the 10-foot-tall 3,700-pound metal dragon at Castle Farms. Round out the evening with dinner and a movie downtown before heading in for the night.

The Petoskey area has attractions for kids and the kids at heart. Kids from toddler to teen and beyond will want to put Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls on their bucket lists. For even more excitement, visit Wildwood Rush in Boyne City, where you can fly through the forest canopy on over 7,000 feet of zip lines, cross five suspended sky bridges, and enjoy the amazing views of Lake Charlevoix from six tree-top platforms.
