New Year’s with Kids & Families

Celebrate New Year’s with the entire family, kids included! Many places in West Michigan are hosting family-friendly events and celebrations to welcome the new year.

 

The family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration at the Air Zoo in Portage, Countdown to Noon, gives kids all the excitement of seeing the clock tick up to 12:00 without staying up to midnight. The event starts with activities for the kids and concludes with a huge balloon drop at noon. Admission to the event is included with your general admission and is free to members and kids under 4.

Ring in the new year with the kid-friendly Celebration Cinema Balloon Drop at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. The balloons drop at 7:30 pm, meaning the kids can celebrate while still making their bedtime. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Kick off 2019 at Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville with something fun for every age. Enjoy specialty buffets, parties with live entertainment, and the annual torchlight parade and fireworks over the mountain!

Ring in the new year with friends and family at Shanty Creek Resort, with dining and entertainment options for all ages throughout the three villages of Shanty Creek Resort. Kids can enjoy a night of New Year’s Eve fun all to themselves during Kids’ Night Out at the Lakeview Hotel. Bring the whole family to Dueling Pianos in the Lakeview Hotel’s Grand Ballroom for the Family Dinner Show. Or, relax and unwind at The River Bistro while counting down to 2019 with the Times Square show.

The New Year’s party at Treetops Resort in Gaylord is a family affair! Kids activities, including balloon animals and cookie decorating, mean that everybody gets in on the festive fun. Watch the dazzling fireworks at midnight, rounding out an exciting night.

Prepare to be wowed by the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in Saugatuck. Join friends and family in downtown Saugatuck as you ring the new year at one of many traditional parties, ending the night with a fireworks spectacular.

Ring the new year in with family-friendly fun in downtown Hastings! The festivities begin with live music, ice sculptures, face painting, outdoor games, and more leading up to a countdown and ball drop at midnight followed by a sound and light display.

2019 starts in the heart of downtown South Haven with New Year’s Eve in the Haven. They’re clearing the streets so that you can mingle in the square and stay up late enjoying music, dancing, ice skating, special features from local restaurants, party favors, and a special midnight surprise!

If you’re ringing in the new year in the Petoskey area, bring the family for New Year’s Eve at the local arts center! Music, art, and a ball drop at 9 pm make for a wonderfully enjoyable start to the new year without the kids (or you) fighting to stay awake until midnight.
