With autumn in full swing, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the beautiful season in Northern Michigan. Courtney Sheffer with the West Michigan Tourist Association joins us with a look at some of the fun fall-inspired activities we have to look forward to.
If you’re looking for outstanding fall color, head to the Petoskey area this month. In Petoskey, you’ll be able to travel along the famous scenic routes of Northern Michigan, including the Tunnel of Trees drive from Harbor Springs to Cross Village and Legs Inn. In mid-October, area cities like Boyne City, Bay Harbor, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs experience peak colors that set the environment ablaze with oranges, reds, and yellows.
The Benzie County Visitors Bureau is hosting a Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 13 in Frankfort. Enjoy seasonal treats with the pie eating contest and fall baking contest, or show off your skills by guessing the weight of a giant pumpkin. Catch the Scottville Clown Band during the parade, and hop aboard a hayride or helicopter ride before finishing off your day with a free Halloween movie.
The Monster Mash Street Bash takes over Mackinaw City on Saturday, Oct. 13. The celebration starts off with the Creepy Critter Pet Parade. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family, and a street dance in the evening. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.
