Expedia Recognizes Charlevoix, MI as the Best Place to Travel in October 2018

Visit Charlevoix is excited to announce that the global travel company Expedia has recognized Charlevoix, MI as the best place to travel to in October 2018. Only one destination is chosen each month; recognized as the most noteworthy place to visit. This year, for the month of October, Charlevoix was named a premier fall destination attributable to the city’s dazzling fall colors, vibrant downtown, abundant recreational opportunities, and delightful attractions.

Fall in Charlevoix is one of Michigan’s best-kept secret. According to Expedia, “The natural color palate in this neck of the woods can be admired all around, whether you decide to cruise Lake Charlevoix or hoof it on the trails of Charles Ransom Nature Preserve—yes, that’s Lake Michigan and Beaver Island in the distance! Better yet, rent a pair of wheels from Revolution Bike and pedal along the Little Traverse Wheelway’s wetland boardwalk.” Take a driving tour through Charlevoix’s scenic countryside to experience its award-winning fall color. Tour maps are available on visitcharlevoix.com or stop by the friendly Visitor Center.

Celebrate the fall harvest, October 12-14, with Charlevoix’s annual Apple Fest. As the name implies, Apple Fest has more than thirty different varieties of apples from nearby orchards. Apple Fest has a tremendous farmer’s market to stock up on locally sourced produce, honey, maple syrup and delectable baked goods. Finally, stroll through the art and craft show, located in East Park and Bridge Park, where 150 vendors will be showcasing their exceptional handmade craft goods.

Visit Charlevoix is ecstatic that they were recognized by Expedia’s as the best place to travel in October 2018. Amanda Wilkin, Executive Director for Visit Charlevoix explains, “Being recognized as Expedia’s Best Place to Travel in October 2018 is a tremendous recognition for Charlevoix and all of Northern Michigan. There is a growing awareness of the gorgeous fall colors in Michigan and there is no better place to view the beauty than in the Charlevoix area.” She continues, “Autumn is truly my favorite time to be in Charlevoix.”
