The Heritage Museum & Cultural Center and the Morton House Museum are hosting a series of Benton Harbor History Tours this summer.

Paddling Tour – Sunday, August 12 – 6:00 to 7:30pm
Rain date – same times one week later.
This guided tour on the water explores the history of local maritime transportation and commerce, including a visit into the last remaining section of the Benton Harbor Ship Canal. Bring your kayak, paddleboard, or canoe (or rent) and meet at the Graham Avenue Boat Launch (601 Graham Ave, Benton Harbor). Participants will be guided on a 45-minute paddling tour and will receive a souvenir historical map to keep.
Please reserve your tour time (and boat rental, if applicable) with the Heritage Museum (269-983-1191, firstname.lastname@example.org); RSVP is required. Cost for this tour is $10/ person. If needed, boat rentals are available at a discount courtesy of Third Coast Paddling: $15 for a single kayak or stand-up paddleboard, or $20 for a double kayak.

Take a stroll back to Benton Harbor in the 1920s. Historic photos and stories will cover topics including the old ship canal and electric streetcars, business and community sites, prohibition, and the Vincent building’s ties to Chicago gangsters. Meet at The Livery Microbrewery (190 5th Street, Benton Harbor). $5/ person suggested donation.
Biking Tour – Sunday, September 16 – 10:30am to Noon
Bring your own bicycle and meet at the Morton House Museum for departure (501 Territorial Road, Benton Harbor). The route covers about 3 miles where a guide will present information about Benton Harbor history and culture. $5/ person suggested donation.
