Aerie Restaurant & Lounge, located inside Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, is pleased to announce its second consecutive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Wine Spectator magazine bestows the Award of Excellence to restaurants with wine lists featuring at least 90 selections that include a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Whether compact or extensive, focused or diverse, these lists deliver sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers.
“We are honored to receive back-to-back Awards of Excellence,” said Brian Burkley, Grand Traverse Resort and Spa’s Director of Food & Beverage. “Understanding, promoting, and sharing the world of wine with our guests is a true passion for the team at Aerie, and we work hard to provide guests with an outstanding selection from around the world, including featured Northern Michigan wines.”
The Aerie team undergoes intensive wine education, led by sommeliers Max Bauer and Alex Truck, which includes frequent wine tasting as well as tours of vineyards in the Traverse City area. Chef Bryan Petrick also works closely with Bauer and Truck to develop pairings for each Aerie dish, creating an unparalleled wine experience for guests.
To celebrate the award, Aerie will offer a special tasting flight menu for the month of August, from which guests will be able to sample some of Wine Spectator’sTop 100 wines.
“We’re excited to offer guests a chance to taste something new, unique, or rare,” said Max Bauer, Aerie manager and wine director. “The flight will feature outstanding wines from the Top 100 list to showcase what Aerie’s extensive wine selection has to offer.”
