Classical Fireworks and the 3 Maestros

  • Explosively fun times are shaping up for the beloved GR Pops Classical Fireworks concert featuring not one, not two, but ALL 3 of our GRS Maestros. Music Director Marcelo Lehninger, Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt, and Associate Conductor John Varineau will lead the orchestra for a spectacular evening of light classics including The Armed Forces Salute, Overture to Candide, God Bless America, and fan-favorite Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
  • Arrive at the concert early and enjoy pre-concert entertainment featuring Michael the Accordionist. Bring a picnic and relax on the hill for the concert!

Miners Revenge Mountain Bike Festival

  • Adventure Mining Company: Greenland (UP), MI, Sat Jul 14 & Sun Jul 15, 2018
  • In 1920 after 70 years of underground mining they abandoned the remaining copper and left the tunnels vacant of their toils.
  • The Miners Revenge Mountain Bike Race takes you deep into the mountain and through the pits of ancient miners who spent their lives chasing the red metal.
  • Cross country, downhill, and enduro races.
  • Visit the mine for tours: from leisurely guided walking tours to rappelling down a mine shaft

Sunset Beach Bonfire 2018 Series

  • Cost: Free
  • Known for our beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets, the Sunset Beach Bonfire Series is a way to celebrate it all. On the fourth Thursday of July & August from 8-10pm you are invited to bring your beach chairs and blankets to Stearns Park Beach to enjoy a true Up North evening that includes a bonfire, music and of course a beautiful sunset.
  • The bonfires are free to attend and open to the public.

Barn Theatre Productions

  • In Augusta, The Barn Theatre School For Advanced Theatre Training was created to administer to the participating Apprentices a program of instruction, training, and practical experience in the preparation and presentation of theatrical productions.
  • The Barn School Theatre for Advanced Theatre Training presents some of the world’s best entertaining shows.
  • Now through July 15th: Bonnie and Clyde
  • Also this month: “Run for Your Wife” and “Beauty and the Beast”
  • Offer a backstage experience to tour the theatre, and add on dinner before the show to make a whole night out of it.
