As business and social events hit all-time highs at Black Star Farms’ signature property just outside Traverse City, the culinary team grows. Chef Jack Wenz has taken the lead as Director of Culinary Operations. Wenz has 20 years of successful management in Sheraton hotels, resorts, private clubs and convention centers throughout the Midwest and the South. These experiences, such as at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the Iowa Events Center, have Wenz poised to take the helm at Black Star Farms 160-acre estate which features multiple year round event venues, café, luxury Inn, winery and tasting room.
Wenz, formerly of Sarasota, Fl, returned to his roots in Northern Michigan, excited to explore the local agricultural scene and engage in the robust farm-to-table philosophy at Black Star Farms.
At a young age, Chef Jack was captivated by the culinary scene while watching his father hone his trade as a baker. Today, Chef Jack joins the Black Star Farms team, which includes Chef Lance Griffus, embedded in true farm-to-table cuisine, and looks forward to highlighting the best farms in our region, enhancing the Black Star Farms commitment to local agriculture.
