Rare Bird and Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) will be holding a Pour for More (PFM) event on Wednesday, April 4 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Rare Bird Brew Pub, 229 Lake Avenue, Traverse City. This is one of 24 PFM events being held throughout 2018 and will benefit ISEA as well as the other eleven 2018 Pour for More nonprofits. The focus of this event is to support the Great Lakes through membership and public sail participation with Inland Seas.
Pour for More is itself a nonprofit that includes breweries, taprooms, wineries, coffee shops and other establishments serving locally crafted beverages. PFM selects 12 Northern Michigan nonprofits annually and features one per month. Micro-scale donations from participating vendors are compounded into a single fund that makes significant, consistent impact on all 12 local charities equally. “We are grateful to be a 2018 Pour for More nonprofit this year,” said Fred Sitkins, ISEA Executive Director. “The fact that all these venues pool their donations from one or more of their beverages all year long to benefit each us equally is just amazing.” Businesses interested in becoming a Pour for More venue should contact email@example.com.
Each month the featured PFM nonprofit holds two events at participating PFM venues. In addition to benefiting all Pour for More nonprofits through the PFM pours, the featured nonprofit receive additional recognition. ISEA is PFM’s April nonprofit. During their first event held at Rare Bird, attendees can learn more about ISEA’s public sails and membership opportunities. Members of ISEA sponsor youth to participate in Schoolship, STEMship, and Young People in STEM programs as well as receive individual benefits such as public sail tickets and access to ISEA ships. Rare Bird is offering the following additional incentives for individuals who become ISEA members for the first time at the event.
- Crew Level: A filled growler and two pint glasses
- First Mate Level: Dinner for two including two entrees and two drinks
- Captain’s Circle Level: Free Rare Bird Mug Club membership
More information about membership can be found on Inland Seas’ website. All who attend the Pour for More event can enter a drawing for ISEA swag. The next PFM event will be held at Blue Tractor during Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 15-21.
The mission of Inland Seas Education Association is to inspire Great Lake curiosity, stewardship, and passion. This is done through hands-on programs aboard tall ships, in the Education Center and boat shop, and in the local watershed. Youth, college students, teachers, and adult learners gain an understanding of the health of the Great Lakes as they develop a personal relationship with them. The more individuals learn about and appreciate the lakes, the more they want to protect them.
