Barbara Lee VanHorssen , Experi-Mentor at Extended Grace and the Director of the Momentum Center for Social Engagement will lead a nine-month brown bag lunch and learn series on mental health at the Loutit District Library beginning Tuesday, Sept. 19.
This series will be held on the third Tuesday of the month through May 15, 2018 from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the library’s Program Room A. Registration is not required.
According to Lee VanHorssen, one in four people will experience mental illness at some point in their lifetime.
“None of us are untouched by the challenges of our experience of mental illness or the need to care for and support loved ones who are engaged in their own struggle,” states Lee VanHorssen.
She goes on the say, “At the same time, stigma is a primary barrier to people seeking treatment and for resources being prioritized to address this growing epidemic.”
The brown bag lunch and learn will introduce attendees to mental illnesses, available resources, and steps we can all take to end stigma.
