Elvyn Lea Lodge Named a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists

Elvyn Lea Lodge in Walloon Lake has received a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly BusinessSM (BFBSM) award from the League of American Bicyclists. With the announcement of 34 new and renewing BFBs, Elvyn Lea Lodge joins a cutting-edge group of 1,343 local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies in all 50 states and Washington, DC.

“The League of American Bicyclists is excited to recognize a new class of businesses that are making their communities safer, happier, healthier, and more sustainable through bicycling,” said Amelia Neptune, Director of the Bicycle Friendly America program. “We applaud this new round of Bicycle Friendly Businesses, including Elvyn Lea Lodge for leading the charge in creating a more bicycle-friendly America for everyone.”

“A significant and growing number of our guests are cyclists,” says Michael Farrier, who owns and operates the lodge along with his wife Monica. “Some are in the area for cycling events such as Mountain Mayhem, while others enjoy recreational cycling on local bike paths and mountain biking trails.” The lodge has also hosted bike tour groups including Chicago-based Bike4ROW, a cycling campaign and ride around Lake Michigan that supports Recovery on Water (ROW), a rowing program for breast cancer survivors.  In addition to lodging, Elvyn Lea Lodge has added bicycle storage and provides route maps and refers visiting cyclists to area shops for bike rentals.

Elvyn Lea Lodge offers accommodations for groups, including family reunions, retreats, and university programs, who may rent all 20 guests rooms for exclusive use of the lodge and 44 acre property. Individual travelers, couples, and families are also welcome. For information visit To learn more about the BFB program, visit the League online at
