Charter House Innovations Brings Boutique 10-Screen Movie House to Downtown Holland

Charter House Innovations (CHi) is pleased to announce the location of its second Sperry’s Moviehouse, a boutique theater concept, in Downtown Holland. After bringing the idea of a downtown Holland Theatre to GDK two years ago, the final hurdle was our request of an expanded parking garage, nearly three times larger than the original plan. After approval by Holland City Council, they are pleased to announce their commitment to GDK’s new development on the west end of 8th street in Holland, Michigan.

Chuck Reid, Owner of Charter House Innovations, First Class Seating and CityFlatsHotel states, “Our goal was to find the perfect setting for our company to showcase the finest and most comfortable reclining theatre chairs on the market today. With the help of our sister company, First Class Seating, Charter House Innovations will design and manufacture another world class cinema experience, which has taken the market lead in Port Huron in just six short months. Not only will it be the most comfortable and luxurious experience, it will be the most sustainable. Following the lead in Port Huron, our Holland location will provide 100% renewable solar energy to power all of its chairs by capturing solar energy in repurposed automotive battery cells. We intend to create a lively entertainment district on 8th Street providing visitors yet another reason to shop, dine and stay in Downtown Holland.”

CHi is proud of its sustainability heritage with the only two LEED GOLD Hotels in Michigan and the Midwest – CityFlatsHotel. CityFlatsHotel is pleased to share its sustainability commitment with the newest member in the CHi Family – Sperry’s Moviehouse, Holland.

The new concept for the Holland movie house will be a part of a two story, 40,000 square foot building located on 8th Street between River Ave and Pine Ave in the heart of downtown Holland. The unique theatre will occupy the entire second floor of the building as well as about 7,000 square feet of the street-level space. The remaining 13,000 square feet of the space will feature other various retailers and dining. The new movie house will consist of the main box office, concessions and two screens at street level. On the second floor, you will find eight additional screens connected by an escalator for easy movement for movie-goers between both levels.

The second level of the theatre will also include a restaurant and a bar/lounge area for patrons to relax and enjoy food and drinks prior to, or after their screening. Not only are food and drinks permitted in the theatre, but a unique “Eat at Your Seat” concept will be provided for all patrons. Movie-goers will be able to kick back and relax with food and drink, while simultaneously enjoying first-class reclining seats providing a one-of-a-kind movie experience.

“Our new movie house will highlight our finest dual motor, zero gravity style luxury recliner running completely on 100% renewable solar energy, proudly handcrafted right here in Holland, Michigan,” says Reid.

The construction for the parking structure and theatre building are expected to begin in late 2017 or early 2018. Completion of the parking structure is projected for June 2018, and the theatre to present its Grand Opening in the spring of 2019.
