Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Pair Wine and Comedy During Its All New Sips N’ Giggles Event

The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail announces Sips N’ Giggles comedy show to be hosted on May 20, 2017. The event, being held at the Leelanau Studios in Traverse City, pairs local wine with stand-up comedy by nationally touring comedians.

“We’re very excited about Sips N’Giggles,” said Lorri Hathaway, director of the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. “It offers people a way to experience our wines and hard ciders a fun and festive atmosphere.”

The event kicks off with a Sips N’ Nibbles happy hour at 7:00 pm where guests will be greeted with complimentary blend called Sex, a sparkling wine blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Muscat grapes. Wine by the glass will be available for purchase from 45 North Vineyard & Winery and Rove Estate as well as Tractor Pull Hard Ciders from Chateau de Leelanau. In addition, the Cheese Lady will be offering samples of a wide range of delicious cheeses that pair perfectly with the featured wines.

The comedy show, which starts at 8:00 pm, features Andrew Norelli whose credits include numerous late night appearances including twice on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel Live where he was booked by Jimmy himself who said “because of how few slots we have available you have to be an A++ comedian to get booked on my show, and Andrew is.” Norelli has also made appearances on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and the nationally syndicated comedy round-table, Comics Unleashed, where he also worked as a monologue joke writer. Norelli has been featured on Sirius XM, as well as the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show. He recently added a Ted Talk to his resume, where he hilariously lampooned the absurdity of computer error messages.

His performance at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal was praised in Time Out New York. International appearances include Sydney Australia’s Comedy Store where The Daily Telegraph remarked “his show features hair trigger laughs with a deadly aim, all the more so because while some comedians overestimate their own intelligence, Norelli never underestimates ours.” At the Boston Comedy Festival, Andrew was awarded second place, and was the winner of the first annual Las Vegas World Series of Comedy.

“We’re thrilled to bring a comedian of Andrew’s caliber to Traverse City,” said Chris O’Non of Uncorrect Comedy, the producer of the show. “He’s going to be a big hit for a fun evening with lots of laughter.”

Opening the show is Floyd J Phillips, whose credits include winner of the 2000 Seattle International Comedy Competition and finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition and Boston Comedy Festival. Whether it’s entertaining troops overseas, audiences on cruise ships, or corporate events, comedy clubs and casinos, Phillips brings his unique and hilarious style to the stage and keeps audiences laughing.

“Floyd is a headlining comedian himself who also tours internationally,” shares O’Non. “Attendees are getting quite the comedy show having both Andrew and Floyd on the same stage in Traverse City.”
