Intimate Jazz Concert in the Gallery at the Holland Area Arts Council

Jazz in the Gallery is an intimate concert featuring award winning composer, performer, Robin Connell, bassist, Warren Jones and Fennville keyboardist/percussionist Jim Cooper in the Padnos Gallery at the Holland Area Arts Council.

Robin Connell, host of the concert series, is the winner of the 2016 ArtPrize Public Choice award for her original composition, Prisms. As well as her Connell’s many accomplishments as a musician, she is an advocate for jazz and jazz education. Connell taught jazz piano for twenty summers at the Interlochen Arts Camp, co-directs the youth jazz program at the St. Cecilia Music Center, and is on the faculty of the Aquinas Jazz Camp.

Warren Jones has been playing jazz bass for over 40 years. He has accompanied the best jazz artists in the world and taught beginners and working musicians in both private and public school settings. He has appeared on over 100 recordings and has five under his own name.

Jim Cooper, a Chicagoan for much of his life, currently resides in Saugatuck. His critically acclaimed artistry includes winning the 2015 ArtPrize Critic’s Choice Award for his original composition, Third Circle, as well as being the recipient of multiple WYCE ‘Jammie Awards.’ Cooper’s performances range from appearances at top Chicago jazz clubs, to the Chicago Jazz Festival, to schools and universities across the Midwest. Cooper is featured as a sideman on the recordings of many regional artists and has three releases as a leader of his own projects.

Doors for the event open at 7:00pm and the concert starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 per person. Spirits will be available at a cash bar. Concert proceeds will go to support programs of the Holland Area Arts Council.
