The Holland Area Arts Council looks forward to Tulip Time 2017 when the Arts Council will be alive with activity. The Arts Council will be home to the Art in Bloom Top 20 Poster display, the Quilt Show, a quilt raffle and the Holland Friends of Art Spring Show.
The Art in Bloom Top 20 images will be on display in the dance studio, including Michele Gort’s winning image, Playful Time. Paper ballots will be available for voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award. Tulip Time is offering a text to vote option again as well, and instructions can be found at www.hollandarts.org/art-in-bloom or on Facebook. Voting will be open from Saturday, May 6th through Friday, May 12th at 4pm.
The winners of the Viewer’s Choice Awards will be announced on Saturday, May 13th at the 10am reception for Art in Bloom, open to the public.
The annual Quilt Show gives visitors an opportunity to view a unique display of over 100 exquisite handmade bed quilts, wall hangings and art quilts by local artists in the Padnos and Armstrong Galleries. The event has multiple show times that vary from the Arts Council’s regular hours: Saturday, May 6th from 10am to 3pm, Sunday, May 7th from 12pm to 3pm, Monday, May 8th through Friday, May 12th from 10am to 8pm and Saturday, May 13th from 10am to 1pm. Entry to the Quilt Show is $6 per person.
In conjunction with the Quilt Show, the Arts Council raffles off a beautiful quilt. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5 and are on sale starting Friday, April 21st until 11am on Saturday, May 13th. The drawing will take place on Saturday, May 13th at 12pm. You do not need to be present to win.
The Holland Friends of Art Spring Show, juried by artist Lee Ann Frame, will be on display in the Arts Council’s Lievense Gallery. Only members of HFA can submit to this annual exhibit. Frame, a local artist and educator, will narrow the submissions. The final exhibit demonstrates the quality and range of artwork coming from our local artists.
THE STUDIO will also be open to the public for additional hours during Tulip Time: Saturday, May 6th from 10am to 3pm, Sunday May 7th from 12pm to 3pm, Monday through Friday, May 8th to 12th from 10am to 5pm and Saturday, May 13th from 10am to 1pm. The Studio will feature a special project just for Tulip Time, and entry will be $2.50 per person all week.
The Arts Council also has lots of products to purchase from Tulip Time and other local artists. Artwork in the Holland Friends of Art Spring Show and Art in Bloom are also for sale.
