Annual Regional Student Exhibition to Open at Oliver Art Center

Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts’ Regional Student Exhibition is an annual favorite in the community. High School works are juried by special guest artists for display in the Beck Gallery, and area elementary and middle school works are accepted for display in the Borwell and Entrance Galleries.

Last year saw the exhibition’s highest number of participants from area schools including Frankfort-Elberta, Benzie Central, Interlochen, Mesick, Buckley, Onekama, and Traverse City. Over 200 pieces were on display visitors to the exhibition were thoroughly impressed with the level of excellence. 150 pieces were on display from area Elementary and Middle School students. ‘This exhibition is a personal favorite. I am amazed every year by the talent these students exhibit.’ said Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director. This year’s exhibition is sponsored by Honor Bank.

The juror for this year’s exhibition is Shanny Brooke, self-taught artist and owner/operator of Higher Art Gallery in Traverse City.

Certificates of Excellence will be presented during the Exhibition Opening on Friday, April 14th from 5pm to 7pm. The Exhibition runs from April 14th until May 12th.
