12 Corners Vineyards 2nd Annual Oktoberfest

12 Corners Vineyards, Benton Harbor’s only estate winery, celebrates autumn with this German heritage festival on Saturday, October 22nd.

Pulling up to 12 Corners Vineyards in Benton Harbor has a very stately feel. The long driveway provides an up-close look at the vineyards and the tree line along the property is arrayed with the colors of fall. This vineyard has 115 acres of which 30 acres are wine grapes producing 20 different varieties. On their menu, 12 Corners offers 25 different wines all varying in dryness and sweetness of red, white and blush, and they also offer Lil Red’s, a cran-apple hard cider.  Keeping a good selection of wines guarantees that every patron will find something to their taste! Once inside the tasting room, guests will marvel at the breathtaking views of the vineyards, as well as a spacious and beautiful bar area. As one of the largest tasting rooms in the area, 12 Corners allows plenty of space for both couples and large parties to taste wine together. Participants on the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail or Southwest Michigan’s Maker’s Trail are more than welcome! Come enjoy the middle of harvest season and autumn colors by sipping wines made from the vines right in front of you.

This Saturday, 12 Corners is offering vineyards tours for the first time to the general public on our new 12C Winousine. The vineyard is in the midst of harvesting grapes, offering a special look at the 2016 harvest. Glen Greiffendorf, our winemaker, will be guiding the tour and will be ready to answer all questions thrown his way. The tours will last about 30 minutes and will be at a first come, first served basis. These tours will be once an hour, at the 30 minute marks with the first tour starting at 12:30pm and the last tour ending at 5:30pm. The tour is free, and gratuities are accepted to the tour guide.

The 12C Oktoberfest event offers music from Ed Skjordal. In the past he has toured with Bryan Lubeck and Jimmy Dillion. Ed’s main music genre is folk with a little 70’s rock. Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, and Gordon Lightfoot are some of his main cover artists. In addition to music, seasonal treats from Piggotts’ Farm Market and Bakery will be for sale, and specialty fall wine concoctions and wine specials will be available all day long.

The grapes and fall colors are at their peak, so take in this wonderful time of year and all the special offerings for the 2nd Annual 12 Corners Vineyards Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 22nd from noon to 7pm.
