President and CEO Sue Bila is pleased to announce Michigan Festivals & Events Association (MFEA) has received a $50,000 Services to the Field matching grant and a $2,875 Capitol Improvement matching grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
The funds from the Services to the Field grant will be used to produce the new and enhanced 2017 magazine including the annual calendar of festivals, fairs, events, main attractions and more. This grant also allows MFEA to continue their dedication to providing professional educational development to the MFEA membership… incorporating arts and culture into their events. MFEA’s Annual Convention and Spring Seminars do, and will, include educational workshops to assist communities in their event organization and development helping them to grow and prosper. MFEA touches every community in Michigan through its annual magazine and educational workshops. The 24th Michigan Festivals and Events Association Convention will be held November 3-6, 2016 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel. You can visit their website www.mfea.org/convention/convention-forms to learn all about the 2016 Convention.
The extremely popular Annual Calendar of Events magazine are produced and distributed throughout Michigan and the United States. The 2017 proposed major distribution points include Michigan McDonalds Restaurants, Michigan AAA Branch Offices, Michigan Welcome Centers, Michigan Secretary of State Offices, Chicago Union Station AMTRAK, and many more.
The MFEA Educational Workshops are available throughout the year and are opened to all communities. MFEA takes pride in offering top-notch speakers and topics to communities and their volunteers to produce successful events.
The funds from the Capitol Improvement grant will be used to support the purchase of an office server and commercial printer. The office server will be used to maintain the MFEA membership database. The printer will be used for marketing and office materials, including but not limited to member invoices, registration forms for convention and membership update forms. In the next six months MFEA will move offices to the Carriage House on Pearl Street in Chesaning, MI. The offices space has been renovated to accommodate their growing Association. MFEA is thrilled to be moving into this historic gem in beautiful downtown Chesaning.
Michigan Festivals and Events mission is to support and promote festivals, fairs, events, attractions, suppliers, and tourism through education, marketing and networking for the success of their members.
Many thanks to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs for their continued support of festivals and events throughout the year and throughout the state.
