Ride, Skate or bike on the 22 mile Hart-Montague Trail. September 12-13, attend the Annual Apple Fest & BBQ contest and participate in the Rib Eating Contest or Apple Festival Pie Contest. The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area offers something for everyone.
Golden Township Park (Lake Michigan Beach) - A small parking lot is the only thing that holds this beach back from being the #1 beach in the Silver Lake area. This huge beach changes each year due to the Silver Creek Channel flowing out to Lake Michigan. The warm-water channel satisfies the younger swimmers while the Big Lake attracts the older, adventurous folks. Beach walkers will also like the easy access to Little Sable Pt. Lighthouse, just a short walk down the beach. Located off Silver Lake Road 1/4 mile north of the Lighthouse.
Little Sable Pt. Lighthouse (Lake Michigan Beach) - Whether you come during the day for sunning and swimming or at night for the best sunset location in the county - you won't be disappointed with this beach. The beautiful red brick lighthouse built in the late 1870's is a must see. Large parking area and restroom facilities are available. The walk out to the beach involves some dune crossing and climbing. Located 1/2 mile south of Golden Township Park.
Silver Lake State Park Campground Beach - A huge beach area servicing the State Park Campground, and is also open to the general public. Enjoy a sandy beach, gradual sloping swim area and a view that can't be beat - the Silver Lake Sand Dunes! State Park facilities also include picnic tables, pavilion, and restrooms. A day pass is needed to use this beach area and can be purchased at the campground registration booth. (Public boat launch also). There are also several marked public access points around Silver Lake for swimming and boat launching.
Silver Lake State Park ORV Area Beach - You'll need an ORV to get to this beach, but you'll be glad you came. Imagine access to nearly 2,000 acres of natural rolling sand dunes bordering Lake Michigan and Silver Lake. Imagine a long row of ORV's lined up along the beach (reminds you a bit of Daytona Beach except there is no driving allowed directly on the beach). Dune vehicle rentals are available to help you get there. Access to this beach is from the ORV dune entrance area off 24th Ave. at Silver Lake.
Cedar Point (Lake Michigan Beach) - Cedar Point is a great place for spending the afternoon at the beach. The 3-acre park provides swimming, a picnic area and restrooms. Spectacular multi-tiered wooden steps lead visitors from the high bank bluff above, through the forest canopy, to the beach below. If you are looking for a more secluded and intimate beach location - this is it. Located along the shore of Lake Michigan between Silver Lake and Pentwater off B-15.
