Windmill Island Gardens

“Experience old Holland in 36 acres of history & beauty”
Just two minutes and two centuries from downtown Holland stands “De Zwaaan,” a 246-year-old working Dutch windmill. Its steel beams and sails span 80 feet, and De Zwaan stands 12 stories high over 36 acres of manicured gardens, dikes, canals, and picnic areas. Costumed guides escort visitors through the windmill.

Windmill Island Gardens also offers many other attractions, including:
- Over 150,000 tulips bloom in the spring; in the summer, annual plants and flowers decorate the ground
- Posthouse Museum; a replica of a 200-year-old Dutch country inn
- Amsterdam Street Organ
- Little Netherlands; a display in miniature of the Netherlands
- Klompen Dancing in the summer
- Free rides for children on the 1929 Antique Carousel
- Wooden shoes and souvenir shops
- West Michigan's premier wedding/reception location
