This light was originally only the fog signal building. The pierhead at the entrance to the Kewaunee River originally had a pair of range lights, and a steel shed that housed a fog signal. In 1931 the shed was expanded to include a new tower and light. The old front light was removed in 1931 and a new square tower was built on top of the fog signal building. This is the structure standing today. The 45 foot tower houses a Fifth Order Fresnel lens. This light resembles the "Big Red" Harbor Light in Holland.
