Located in the exact center of Northern Michigan on the 45th parallel, Gaylord literally offers something for everyone. Known as Michigan’s Alpine Village our Alpine themed shopping district offers visitors a quaint, clean setting with a multitude of Downtown Shopping experiences. Our downtown pavilion offers weekend entertainment, a twice weekly farmers market and a vast array of events and activities.

Well known as a Recreation seekers paradise, you will want to experience all that Gaylord has to offer including the North Central State Trail which goes from Gaylord to Mackinaw City. This trail is a great hiking and biking trail in the summer and part of our 300 mile snowmobile trail system.

One of Gaylord’s prime features is the area’s 17 championship caliber Golf courses. With numerous courses receiving national rankings and hotels and resorts offering spectacular packages, Gaylord is known as America’s Summer Golf Mecca.

Elk Viewing - Either in the Pigeon River State Forest or Aspen Park in the city limits you're sure to see these massive beautiful creatures.

For those looking for the area's other catches, dozens of lakes are stocked with the catch-of-the-day. Otsego Lake offers a variety of species of freshwater fish and a variety of seasons in which to pursue them. The water is alive with walleye, perch, small-and large-mouth bass, pike sturgeon and crappie, among other sport fish. And ice fishermen find Otsego Lake a great place to shanty up when the ice grows thick in the heart of Michigan's winter. - See more at: www.gaylordmichigan.net/lakes,-rivers--fishing-115.

Whether strolling through shops to browse at a leisurely pace, or bustling through them on a mission, shoppers will take pleasure in Gaylord's downtown shopping district.  Under the glow of lamp posts and along tree-lined streets, Gaylord Alpine Village shoppers will discover distinctive shops filled with unique merchandise and proprietors eager to please.

Call it darn good geographical luck or a heckuva blessing from the snow gods, but Gaylord, Michigan’s got dibs on the sweetest snowmobiling in the state. Our dead-center position in the tip of the mitt means the sky above blows in big – no, make that behemoth-blizzards of lake-effect snowfall winter long, plus the city sits pretty in the middle of a snowmobile network that runs more than 500 miles across eight counties. In other words, ladies and gentlemen-rev your engines.
