Otis Sanctuary: This 120-acre wildlife preserve is open every day dawn to dusk. 120+ species, including sandhill cranes, Henslow's sparrows, migrating warblers. Cerulean Warblers, loons in area. Hiking trail 1.2 mile long. Cabin rental available. Foot traffic only. Parking available. Free admission. Contact Resident Manager for info, tours.
Martha Mott Sanctuary: A former farmstead and woodlot, this 80 acre sanctuary has a fine stand of oaks, hickory, and walnut. There are open and shrubby fields along with some low swamplands.
Mildred Harris Sanctuary: This 40 acre sanctuary northwest of Kalamazoo has a mature Beech-Maple forest that in all likelihood has not been logged. The understory and groundcover are diverse with spring ephemerals and shrubs.
Lake Bluff Bird Sanctuary: This jewel on Lake Michigan's shore boasts over 1500 feet of Lake Michigan Frontage on its 76 acres in Manistee County. Originally landscaped as an arboretum, many notable specimens have been preserved such as California Redwood, Ginko, and two Michigan Champion Trees, a Giant Sequoia and Sycamore.
