Horseshoe Island

Part of the Peninsula State Park, Horseshoe Island is the only nearby island that is owned by the State of Wisconsin. The island is in the Bay of Green Bay and is accessible by private boat. It has no establishments other than a pit toilet, a hiking trail and the foundation of a lodge that was once occupied by the Folda family in the 1890s. The French explorer Jean Nicolet reportedly landed briefly on the island
